"I am going to attempt to make this review as spoiler-free as possible, though if it appears in trailers, it may be mentioned here.

This is the 11th Star Trek movie, and in many ways, a reboot.  It takes us back to the earliest days of the Starfleet careers of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy.  The movie starts on the day of Kirk's birth, where he is literally born into an enviroment of excitement and action.  The ship is father serves on, and his mother lives on, is under attack.  Kirk, true to his nature, arrives even as the ship is over-whelmed.  If I go too much more into it, I will really be getting into big spoilers."

I agree with most of what you said here. I liked the film a lot and think they did a pretty good job with the cast. I was surprised at the relationship you aluded to here (I hadn't seen the episode where it was hinted), but thought it made for an interesting twist. I adored Quinto as Spock, and agree that it would be almost impossible (not to mention illogical...lol) for anyone except Nimoy to play the character "right", but Quinto did an awesome job! I don't want to do a spoiler for anyone else who might read this, but there was one glaring paradox that they did NOT address in this movie (that I could see, anyway), involving Spock's mother. That bugged me. Other than that, I was surprised at how well this "prequel" turned out to be - I don't normally like pequels anyway, but I have to admit I loved this one - it will be one I eventually own. :)
