Hmmm. You're right that Darwinism doesn't answer the question well enough about where we came from (at the very beginning, BEFORE all the primal sludge stuff). Those are pretty daunting odds, too. It DOES blow one's mind to think that little old homo sapiens just happened to have exactly the right combination to even form, much less evolve.

My dad firmly believed that aliens were the ones who were responsible for life as we know it and where it began - he also believed in Jesus and thought that Jesus was actually an alien. Go figure. So...the way I see it, the best 'answers' to the question of where it all began, (if you're discounting the Big Bang theory and those kinds of odds) would be:

A) A Higher Power (i.e. God) or
B) Aliens or
C) A combination of both of the above

or something no one has thought of yet...and really, maybe our tiny brains can't even begin to comprehend Who or What was responsible. Maybe it was just an unbelievably random happenstance and we lucked out. I don't believe that, though. I think anyone can see the patterns apparent in all of nature and simply marvel at the complexities involved in something as simple (and complicated!) as a single cell. All of creation and the key to it, locked inside a series of genetic coding...

What I find even more amazing is that people have already made these connections - the Golden Mean is evidenced in the basic building blocks of life as well as all over nature. One just has to know what to look for. :) So...what's YOUR theory, Wei?

My theory is that there is simply not enough evidence to properly form a theory. ;)

Okay, okay, yeah, that's a cop-out. Do I believe that there is something guiding us? I have already admitted, in my 'about me' section, that I do believe in a higher power. However, what that higher power is, exactly, and how much it actually effects or guides us directly is something we will never know in this life time.

For all we know, it may not even be cognizant as we think of it. It's thought forms may be so different from anything we can conceive that we could find it and never know. It may not even realize we exist, or it may consider us the way we consider amoebas. Hell, we could be nothing more than a computer system designed to determine the meaning of life, which as we all know is 42.
