I'm Amanda Kato, widely known as Vetwife, and the spouse of a 100% disabled Vietnam combat veteran. United Veterans of America has been a legally incorporated not-for-profit for more than ten years, beginning by helping Vietnam vets get their benefits. After the tragedy of September 11th, and the invasion of Afghanistan, we turned our attention to the new crop of veterans as well. The war in Iraq has only made our services more necessary.

At the small town level we were able to hold fund raisers for quite a few vets to help them with things they needed but the system didn't provide. Moreover, we put up our first web site and began publishing how to information for claiming veterans benefits and navigating the VA bureaucracy. We've never taken a dime for ourselves.

As questions from veterans came in we expanded our resources to include the seemingly commonplace sorts of things that bedevil too many vets, getting a copy of a DD-214, getting those never received medals, and always the veterans benefits our former service members have earned. As on the battlefield, our goal is to leave none of ours behind.

After a decade of brutal wars on two fronts, with deployment after deployment wearing our men and women in uniform thin, we know that now, more than ever, our veterans and their families deserve every benefit the law allows. Our mission is to assist them in any way we can.

Please join with those veterans and their families who know their service didn't end when they took off the uniform. Help swell our numbers so that we might accomplish more together.

There are no dues or fees or associated with UVA online membership. Whatever monies we raise through donations go 100% to veterans or the expenses the work entails.
