  • Topic Clean PSP Cache Files 07/20/2011 12:58 PM

Many may already know about this...

but some may not. Each time you open a file in PSP & AS, a 'copy' of that file
goes into a "Cache Folder", and over time, (doesn't take very long),
these files begin to build up and take up storage space,
and really bog-down your computer, and eventually, your
Programs will start to "crash" (where it shuts-down and
you have to keep re-starting it)....especially if you
have an older computer that does not have a lot of RAM or GB.
I have mine set, so each time I exit PSP, it automatically deletes all Cache files!
For anyone else who doesn't know about this, or how to do it, here are the
    instructions for both Versions 7, 8 and 9. I don‘t have 12 so I can‘t help
with that one but check out the file/preferences/Reset Preferences to see if
the same functions are available. .Hope this helps someone else...sure did me!
If you are running PSP 7Go to C:/ProgramFiles/JascSoftwareInc/PaintShopPro/Cache
Open the Cache Folder, go to Edit/Select All/File/Delete Make sure you only delete
files inside the Cache folder and not the Cache Folder itself. You should do this
regularly. It will rebuild itself, the next time you open PSP. If you are running
PSP 8 and PSP 9In PSP 8 and 9, there is no Cache Folder. To empty the Cache,
    go to File/Preferences/Reset Preferences
Check: Delete All Cache Files Only OK When
you load up PSP, the next time it will be a little slow to start, but it will rebuild.
Also: If you have PSP open for a while, it is a good idea to empty the history
& clipboard every so often. Edit>Empty Command History and Edit>Empty Clipboard,
    this frees up memory.

    Krissy's New Bee's Questionnaire

Hello and thank you for your interest in joining our group, before we can approve you we need a simple form filled out so you understand the type of group your joining and some of the requirements for the group.

If you can't add grahpics then there is no point in learning HTML because if you take it from another site to add to your pages then its stealing.  If your not interested from this point then please let me know so I can remove you.

So if you interested in learning it all then let's move on.

I need the following information please. If we do not recieve the information within 48 Hours of joining then we will deny you.

  • Topic Windows 7 fonts 07/20/2011 12:55 PM

Using Non Installed Fonts With Windows7

Windows 7 does not load any minimized fonts for use in Paint Shop Pro, Letter Creator or other program. What you can do is create a shortcut to any fonts you have stored on your computer. The shortcut still needs installing but as it is a shortcut it is not taking up any space in your windows font folder. First you need to go to your C:Windows Font Folder and click on Font Settings

Then check the Allow Fonts to be installed using a Shortcut

Now go to your un installed fonts. Open one and check the little use shortcut box then hit install. This will only install the shortcut

To check if it worked open your C:Windows fonts folder

This font, and any other done this way will now be available in any program or application which uses fonts. Please note: Once you have created the shortcut you cannot move the .ttf file (font) without repeating the process again

If you have any questions or problems don't hesitate to ask.

  • Topic PNG Saves 07/20/2011 12:53 PM

As you progress within PSP you will notice on gif saves if you use a drop shadow you will get what is called a hallo around your image.

If you are saving a gif as an animation your best bet is not to use a drop shadow to avoid the hallow.  However if your working on a project that is not animated and you want it transparent then your best solution for a save is a PNG save.  Below are the directions on that type of save.  Please make your settings the same as mine below.

To save as a PNG go to file/export/png optimizer and make your settings the same as mine below:

    Step 2

    Enjoy
