After the last two or three days of not getting access here I finally shelled out some hard-earned copper stags to buy a premium account over at freeforums, which silent majority has tested as well.
I have this morning set up the boards - fewer than here, as suggested by members - and it would be very nice if you ported over any threads that you are the author of.
What I did, for example, with the "Questions about Writing" thread was that I had it open and the new place open in two windows, and then just copied/pasted the posted material. All I did was put an "Originally posted by..." atop each member's post and then copied/pasted the thread over. You can do it in a more lazy manner as well, just copy the whole page over (like we did for some of the threads here) - takes less time.
Instead of me doing this for each and every thread here - which would take me weeks if not months - I hope you can port over threads you have created that you wish to see continued at our new and much much improved home. If you can't be bothered, you can obviously just create a new thread on the same topic in the new place.
The new place is:
darkwingsdarkwords.freeforums.org
NOW before you start complaining about smilies or whatever, give me time to adjust! Lots of things to do and learn and tweak, but at least it has a friendly UI, and I think things will go along quite nicely - once we're re-settled (for the last damn time I tells you) we can start furnishing our home.
Take any suggestions, ideas, questions about the new (and final!) boards here please:
Note that while the domain is called darkwingsdarkwords, you don't have to agree with the title. I just had to move today, since I had an opening in my schedule, and I didn't want to wait until everybody was online to concur or disagree. The logo of the new boards is also preliminary and if you suggest a better title for the new place, we'll just change the logo for that.
In the "State of the Boards" thread I have outlined my reasoning for the name "Dark Wings, Dark Words".
Hope to see you in a relatively stable environment soon.
