Topic :   Has anyone else noticed this forum isn't on the carter site?

I'm assuming that because of all the complaints that made them look worse than normal, they've deleted this forum so that new people can't see what's really going on. The scoop, I heard from an ex-employee is that they are in so much debt they are just waiting on a creditor to give them forced chapter 11. They keep taking orders, and spending that money on bills, but have no parts to ship. It's obvious when they do colaps which seems pretty soon, that none of us will have our parts or our money back. I'm just going to cancel my order, demand a refund, and sell this hunk of junk to some other poor sap. I know it's a little wrong, but it seems there's no other option. I mean if they hadn't been pealing off chinese vin numbers and replacing them with carter vin numbers this might not have ended up like this.

Re :   fuss about carter

What the fuss are you talking about?  What the fuss do you think moved these people to write something like that on a completely different page?  They had to navigate here just to vent...do you really think all these complaints are unfounded and not a result of the frustration that occurs when  repeated messages and emails are not responded to?

Guest???  Why are you not registered if you have such a strong fussing opinion on this subject?  I am registered and have a strong opinion on the subject because I am here complaining as a result of failed efforts in trying to get in touch with ANYONE from Carter on many many levels.
Anyway-where do you get your facts and figures on people that are complaining with respect to whether or not they are making an effort to be heard via the contact info Carter provides on its site?  We both know you pulled that figure out of your tailpipe...so why would you spout off like that on a subject you are obviously not informed on?  Are YOU from Carter?  Should we be asking YOU these questions?
I doubt it...but I still am never surprised by the strange things people do on the internet.

Here's an idea:  Unless you have a way to fix the problem at Carter-or some info on why things have deteriorated as they so evidently have at Carter's customer service...stay outta the fussing conversation!  If you have some insight, then identify yourself and weigh in.

I must say-after spending well over 10 grand in Carter products, and parts over the years, I am not happy with the turn the company has taken.  That being said, I and people who share my concerns are on here because we have no other option...Carter will not respond so what are we to do?  Leave a message a week(again)?  An email every other day(again)?  It is offensive for an unidentified user to make a comment on the validity of the claims on this forum.

Topic :   fuss about carter

For all  that fuss.................... maybe if you leave a message they will call you back ! about 90 % of people who fuss dont leave messages! Maybe that is why you are not getting a reply or call back!??? And one more thing FREIGHT shipping and PARTS shipping are TWO different areas completely!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re :   Hello Carter reps?????

It is nice to see an honest POV.
First, I appologise.  I certainly need to qualify my statement about people not deserving their jobs to the "decision makers" at Carter...not the hourly guys and girls that just take orders.  I, and I am sure that others like me understand that this is a problem with Carter's management...not the quality of their day to day employees.  It seems that Carter got some measure of success over the last few years and got the "Chrysler Disease"...we all know how that worked out.  I am pretty sure that Carter will not last as long as Chrysler did though...I am sorry to say as a Carter owner and (hate to admit it)lover of these buggies Carter does not have much time left in business unless they make some serious changes.  I do not anticipate this happening but this, in particular, is a symptom of why these machines may never take hold as a viable alternative to the thriving ATV market...which I always wanted to see.  It is a direct example of the fly-by-night attitude of even the biggest and oldest go kart company in America, let alone all the Chinese drop-shippers out there slopping up the industry.
While Carter has had a big hand in MAKING this industry, they are also capable of KILLING it as well...by being one of the most visual and longest lasting companies out there..by being so complacent and down right deceptive they are hurting the business as a whole.
I wonder if any of this has caught the attention of anyone of any consequence or influence at Carter...if not-then THAT is truelly the measure of Carter's concern with this problem.  Non existant.
Unfortunate.

Re :   Hello Carter reps?????

Ex-employee writes: All of you are right, except for the part about the employees not deserving their jobs. There is only so much you can do for a company when you have NOTHING to sell to the customers and upper management tells you miss-informed ETA dates, won't fork the money over to get the products in, and tells you to work with what you have when all the parts now come from China and the "HONEST" ETA dates on those are between ninety dates to six months. It's impossible to please someone who needs parts and service when you take over a 100 calls a day and have to lie to each one of them to keep your job. This is not the employee's who actually want to help you's fault, it's management. I would encourage everyone with a complaint demand to go to the top and maybe something at Carter might change, but those of us trying to feed our families with the pathetic minimum wage jobs (which turn into multiple jobs with no pay increase now that they've laid off over half their staff "due to the economic situation" or at least that was my reason given) have given up their pride in satisfying the customer because they can't even satisfy the guy down the street. Only until Carter's management driving around expensive cars and taking people out to lunch decide that they want their business open and actually work instead of pushing more stuff on it's other "lower class" employees who really wish they could help you, then nothing will change. Just so you know the big view of things at Carter consider this. They get an average of 800 calls a day and they have only 4 employees in the Customer Service/Parts department taking calls, that means that even if you answered a call every 3 minutes you could only do 140 calls per person, that's only 560 half satisfied customers out of the 800, throw in one person who wants to complain that takes up 30 minutes, you just lost 10 people's calls. Mind you even this is unrealistic considering the fact that Customer Service also takes the orders, places them in the system and sends them to shipping. The REAL average for each person back there is on a good day 70 calls with orders a day, that's why only 280 people out of 800 a day can be happy with Carter. It's not the employee's fault they won't hire the staff or supply the parts. PLEASE I encourage you to demand change at Carter. Call management! help those poor people I left behind!

Re :   In need of a clutch for my 5 yr old Blue Carter Bros. Go Kart

 Hello
I would consult your owners manual or an online owners manual...DO NOT expect any help from Carter...as you have already noticed they destroyed their website and refuse to aknowledge any problems nor do they try to fix any of it either.  We are all VERY disappointed.

I used to be able to figure out model #s and order parts from their website but now all they do is list part #s with no description or I cannot find pictures of my go kart to know what part to order. Needing help down in Texas.....thanks for any help someone could give - Coach.

Re :   Hello Carter reps?????

It seems this forum is useless...just like Carter's contact info...it has been weeks on this forum and NOTHING of any substance has come up(except lame excuses from an unnamed Carter rep)...and his lame excuse detailed the handling of these issues...weeks ago...NOTHING.
If I treated my job like that I would be fired....

Carter:  Do you have ANY pride left?  Do I need an English to Chinese interpreter to get anything done?

I can see that all concerns are being ignored...not just mine.  WTF did you even start this forum for Carter?

None of you deserve to keep your jobs...this is ridiculous...but you already got over $10 grand from me-so what do you care?

Amatuers...how the hell do you stay in business?

Re :   Hello Carter reps?????

I have the same complaint, only worse.  I placed an order by phone on June 19th and was told it would ship on the 22nd and I should have it by 25th of June.  STILL NOTHING!!!  I've sent 2 or 3 emails and left 2 or 3 phone messages....STILL NOTHING!!!

There's no excuse for this.  My order was placed well before the "vacation cycle"  I want some answers.

Reply to post dated 01/07/2009,
Hello, sorry for the phone/email inconvenience.  Carter is cycling through its vacation weeks at this time and there is not enough personnel to handle the large volume of calls.  Please be patient with us.  Carter has hundreds of dealers throughout the country, along with hundreds of individuals calling in each week.  We plan to be back up and going full speed next week!

Hey Carter...are you reading your forum?  I know you are not reading your emails or answering the phone...Your level of customer service has gone from second to none(before you changed the website)to into the "F"ing toilet now...Is everyone asleep at the wheel over there??  Or did you sell to the Chinese?  I thought I had an American product with American service....are my calls going to India?  All I want to do is spend MORE money on parts...instead of getting ripped off by my local dealer...I have questions I need answered!!!!Wake up Carter!  Check your damn inbox...-34

Topic :   Flooding talon 150

I have a Talon 150 buggy 2005 model and have an issue it acts like it is flooding sometimes you have to apply full throtle to crank sometimes half throttle sometimes no throttle then it will crank and run but will flood out when you try to accelerate so you have to play with the trottle to eep it running and to move.  I was wondering if the start bypass is the issue.   I rebuilt the carb. fyiJon

Re :   no start

Check the connectors, I had the same issue with a talon gsx and during my frustration i had my son starting the go kart and at the same time I moved wires around and found that one of the female connectors did not make good contact with the male portion (the connector for the CDI), I had to adjust the metal contacts inside the plastic housing and one wire was loose and fell out with a slight pull. (I did contact a repair shop originally to order a replacement ignition coil but they suggested bringing it in because that was most likely not the problem, that part doesn't normally go bad).

Re :   no start

It may be the CDI apparently some have had trouble with those making it not start. I'd call the carter tech guys and ask to be sure but it worked for me.

Re :   Hello from South NJ

Hey Mike...
Nice to see a reply..I was beginning to think I was the only registered user on the forum....hehehe.
Anyway that is great about the 150...Where do I start?
Well, I would say the best bang for your buck would be to upgrade your drivetrain.

The one notorious problem with all (china) buggies is the auto choke mechanism on the carb...stays open and robs power, but wont open when cold starting like it is supposed to.  So a manual choke is reccommended.

In the CVT you have:
Clutch, bell, variator, variator weights, and an engagement spring(belt too, of course).

I reccommend a Koso clutch and bell(or just a drilled and slotted bell)
Dr. Pulley variator w/10g SLIDER WEIGHTS...this is very important to improving torque
a 3000rpm engagement spring

Also, either a Supertrapp muffler or a Blade Eastside Pipe..with a new jet in the carb...I would start at .125 if you are at sea level.  Go up or down from there by reading your plugs...

A clean, high flow air filter (K&N) is also reccommended...although the UNI filetrs tend to blow rings..I know from experience.

Then you can move on to CDI upgrade, A12 cam, even a crankshaft...there is A LOT you can do with these buggies.

I live in NJ and I have an ENTIRE brand new 150cc parts lot on Craig's List.  If you need some parts and want to save some cash...I have it all done for you...just a thought..I wasn't on here trying to pimp my stuff out...so take a lok if you like.

Other than that...feel free to ask any questions you may have...I learned pretty much all there is to know about my FX150...and all the 150 buggies for that matter...
Now I need to learn about my new 250....

enjoy!!

Topic :   no start

I have a maxxam 150 2R buggy. I can not get this thing to start. I have checked and found that I have no spark. I have replaced the ignition module and that did not help things. I have not been able to find any broken or chaffed wires. I have downloaded the service manual but it is not very easy to understand. Any help would be apppreciated. Thanks.
