Child of Eden may have been orphaned upon its retail launch, but the Ubisoft-published on-rails shooter has been adopted by Microsoft for inclusion in a new Kinect hardware bundle. Microsoft has announced that starting next week, a limited number of specially marked Kinect packages would hit stores with Kinect Adventures and a code to download Child of Eden packed into the box. The bundle will be priced the same as the standard Kinect package (suggested price of $150), and it will be available in all Xbox Live markets except Japan, where Child of Eden has not yet seen release.

Developed by Tetsuya Mizuguchi's Q Entertainment, Child of Eden is largely in keeping with the developer's previous work. The game takes its cues in part from Mizuguchi's acclaimed rhythm shooter Rez, and it features the same style of music-enhanced shooter gameplay with psychedelic visuals. It also bears a storyline: Gamers will attempt to rescue the embattled Project Lumi, which is an effort to "reproduce a human personality inside Eden, the archive of all human memories." A virus has invaded the program, however, and players must defeat it, before all hope is lost.

Child of Eden is also set for release on the PlayStation 3 next month, complete with support for 3D displays and Sony's Move controller. For more on the Xbox 360 version, check out GameSpot's review of Child of Eden.
