A company in Nottinghamshire has applied for planning permission to

open several battery farms where rabbits will be raised for meat.

Breeding does - New Zealand Whites, which are quite large rabbits, are

generally used for this - will spend their entire lives, which might

amount to 5 years of more, in tiny cages.  The requirement from Defra

is for a height of 35cm and a floor area of 0.56m²

intervene and bring pressure to bear on the council to deny the

application.
