My guilty little secret is I watch American Idol. Last night this rocker dude's version of this song blew me away. I have loved this song since the Shirelles did it but don't think anyone has ever done it better.

OP - I'm with you! Love American Idol. I have not been a big fan of his until last night. He really blew me away with that song. I love Carole King and all her songs - wore out the Tapestry album in my young years! It was so great having all of them sing her songs. I also loved the Shirrelles version of this song and I believe he did it even better than them. Who are your final three?

I have thought all along that Lauren would win it because I never thought a rocker would win. No I am not so sure. He may just do it. I think that Scotty has a great voice but not a fan of his style of music. Casey is a good musician but not a fan of his voice. Jacob has a great voice but he is toooooo weird.

So my final three is James, Lauren, and maybe Haley if I have to pick three. There have been some real surprises this year and it would be nice to see a real rags to riches kid like James win. (Still a rocker at my age....shocking!!!!!)

How about yours, Volnole?

i to am a idol watcher...i love james (rocker guy) am hoping he wins.. haily and lauren are my other two for the top 3 ..jacob is to much of a diva and casey is ok but not great in my opinion

I'm hoping James wins as well. His performances are always well polished. I thank you for the link as well. Last night we had tornado warnings all night long. American Idol was taped on my DVR, but kept getting interrupted with weather bulletins every 10 to 15 minutes it seemed so I totally missed Jacob, most of James, and probably parts of some others. I really missed not seeing all of James, as they said, as usual, how great it was.

I think the final 3 will be James, Lauren and Scotty. Scotty has a big following as most country singers do. He will have a career regardless I think. He's also from North Carolina so we are pulling for him even though he isn't my favorite. I have always loved Lauren and have grown to love James. I am not a rocker fan either, but he really would be a rags to riches story. I understand he has Tourette's syndrome that he has overcome so I am quite impressed with him as a person. Pia was my favorite so I have had to regroup. While I like Jacob's voice, I just don't think he is the best. I think it will be Lauren and James in the final with James winning. However, the voters do weird things so who knows. I guess I should vote so I can complain! LOL

From what I've read, Scotty and Lauren leading the voting. I would venture to say that Scotty will win it. I agree that Scotty has a good future ahead of him and see him as a popular country star. For some reason I just don't like him as well as some of the others. I know I don't like how he is posing by always tilting his head. I guess I see him as a fake or "acting" while I like the excitement and passion James has. He has had a hard life growing up and is like a kid in a candy shop eating up all the attention and having a ball doing what he likes. They said that James was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (variation of autism) as well as Tourette's, which is why he makes references sometimes to what is going on in his crazy head.

Glad I'm not the only one here that watches American Idol. I was kind of embarrassed. Here are my predictions and I am never right: I think Scotty will do well in the western world but he won't win it. I think Casey, Haley, and Jacob will disappear and we won't hear from them again. Which leaves Lauren and James. I was thinking Lauren would win but now I think Maybe James could take it, I would vote for him if I voted.

I felt the same way OP so I am glad you plunged right in and brought it up!! It's funny that we all are rooting for James. I have enjoyed it so much better this year. I know the judges are different, but I could never understand in previous years why they ended up with such poor talent except for a few. This group has done a good job as all of these young people have been much better than in recent years I think. I have especially enjoyed Steven and I am not a fan of his music. He just seems to really care about these kids. He is a natural.

I didn't know about the Asperger's diagnosis and James - WOW! He has really overcome great odds to be where he is....moves him up a little more in my mind. I do hope there aren't any major catastrophes in the voting tonight.

i like casey and james.....i wanted jacob gone a few weeks ago, when he said (when he was doing jacksons man in the mirror) that if america voted him off they needed to look at themselves in the mirror.....

I had a feeling Casey was gone tonight - he has my DD's favorite. However, Ryan scared me with his comments at the beginning - afraid it was James.

Hopefully Jacob will be the next to go. Very weird young man. Since Haley and Casey were an "item". I imagine she will now get his votes and may be be in longer. Glad that James is still in the running.

What did you think of the performances last night? I cried along with James - great song! Haley's House of the Rising Sun was awesome I thought but I didn't like her first performance at all. Scotty was much better. Do you think Jacob will go tonight?

With the intro with James getting upset, I knew he would be crying at the end of the song. Still it did make me cry. He is consistently good with anything he sings. I don't really think he has had one bad song all season. I read a comment last night that said James should have gone instead of Casey and I thought, what???? Casey is another Taylor Hicks. A likeable guy but Casey is too offbeat to make it big in the music industry.

Haley has surprised me. I didn't like her first song choice, but she did great with her second and she has grown the most since starting the competition. I would like to see the final between her and James.

I'm ready for Jacob to leave tonight. Lauren would be coming up in second to last place. And Scottie next. Scottie has a big future ahead of him, I'm sure. He just rubs me the wrong way.

OP, Have you tried the Voice? I enjoyed the first two interview episodes. They are all good singers.

@Kac - my DD told me about the Voice so I watched it this week. It is very good. I felt so bad for the singers when no one turned around though - LOL. I'm such a softie! Very good talent and quite interesting.

i love james i hope he wins it all ..that boy can sing ..i too was crying with him on his last song. scotty will have a great country carrer as well as lauren. am thinking it is time up for jacob he has a good voice but he is very boring

Hi fellow Idol lovers! Wow, what a strange night, huh? As you know, I am a James fan. Being honest, I thought his first song was OK, but just that. His second was not so hot vocally, but he grabbed my heart with his emotion! I love that boy!

I am not a Scotty fan (although I think he will have a great CW career.) That being said, I think he did very well last night.

Lauren did OK and I think she will have also have a great CW career.

I have not cared so much for Haley but thought she did well on a couple of songs in the past. Last night her House of the Rising Sun blew me away! Great! (I don't think she deserves to win, though.)

Hopefully Jacob is the one to go home tonight. Not only is he very strange but he is SO full of himself. (A duet with himself?????? Huh???) I haven't got over his remark to people who don't vote for him.

I haven't watched the voice yet. For some reason the commercials for it turned me off. But if you say it is worth watching, I will give it a try.

I am really enjoying this year! Miss Simon, but the judges are great!
