Yes!! I've already done the demo, purchased it, and activated it!!

It is a lot like Magic Farm & has a lot of the same game features.  For example, you don't have to leave the flowers in the basket. You can partially make a potion, just like you could partially make a bouquet in Magic Farm.

I went out & looked at the Magic Farm website & they're still working the MF2.  It was supposed to be released early this year. It didn't sound like they were even in a final beta stage yet, so MF fans may have to take the Fifth Gate as a substitute. And it is very good - graphics, game play. I'll enjoy playing this one over & over.

I just played the demo as part of the PF sale, and I did actually like it enough to buy. But I got to about the 3rd gem in the 1st gate when I forgot to fill my water and I killed off all but one of my plants!
I just started the 2nd gate in my hour.

You can replay any quest, so if one of your plants die (or you don't make enough money, can't complete the quest, etc), you can start it over.

Y'all have corrupted me! I actually had so much fun playing Fifth Gate that I was shocked when it cut me off! I did buy it, too. I NEVER used to play TMs!! Now I have another genre to try and buy. Oh my!

If you like the Fifth Gate, try Magic Farm, too.  I actually can't decide which I like better.  5th Gate has better graphics, but Magic Farm has better gameplay and story.

It's funny - lots of non TM Players love the 5th Gate.  I don't like the game (or Magic Farm).   Too much fast clicking for me, which is the objection some have to TM games   - go figure!

I think it's because you don't have to click everything to achieve a goal. As long as you water the plants when required and kill off the bugs, all you have to worry about is picking the flowers, whereas in a Dash game, you have to make sure you do things in order and not miss a thing, which my brain just can't get in to.

Yes, that's exactly what I like about this one - you have as much time to complete a task as you need. You don't have to play against a timer and start the level over from the beginning again if you don't beat it. Those kinds of setups drive me batty.

I made it through the second gate last night. The second garden almost got me. I had no money, the bugs ate most of my plants, and I thought I was sunk! Somehow I stayed alive. There is definitely a strategy to placing the plants, and, as I discovered, getting rid of the ones you do not need.

Yes, it involves a lot of fast-clicking, but the fast clicking isn't what bothers me - after all, I adore marble poppers! I guess it is like PR said, trying to do all that stuff in order, and with Dash, you have to pick it up and drag it, instead of just clicking on it and it goes where it is supposed to, like the flowers do.

I like the fact that each "day" has a time, and when the clock starts ticking, you are almost done, and can ignore bugs and water. Then you get a break and can take all the time you want to review your quest and plan your strategy. And if you don't make it in the days required, you can still do it. I took 8 days to do one 2 day task, because I was out of resources - but I made a comeback and achieved it. You don't get to do that in the Dash games, LOL.

I'm in the last garden. Those stupid spiders!!! I didn't find level 4 too difficult, but 5 is making up for it. I've managed to get a few expert levels, LOL, but some I've really bombed on. The game is outrageously addictive, though.

Finished!! I actually did well. Got all but 3 trophies, and got all expert in the Dell of Dusk's Dreaming. I even got 13/14 expert on Witch's Doorstep, spiders and all, LOL. But it took me until halfway through to really grasp the strategies involved!

What a fun game it is, and I have really enjoyed it!

Well done Khat!  You should have had this game LAST month.  It was our informal play along challenge but I was the only one playing it LOL.
I got up to the second gate and gave up. I was not really enjoying it.   I will give the game another try some time.

So everyone was talking about Magic Farm, and it is the DD today, so I tried it. It isn't as "pretty" as 5th Gate, but the play is similar. I bought it, but don't know how much I'll play right away, as my back is bothering me really bad. Magic Farm didn't "grab" me like 5th Gate, but I will probably play the whole thing if I can get through it, LOL.

Khat, I did exactly the same, but I could only demo for 5-10 minutes after work in order to beat the traffic (I would have played longer otherwise). $2.99 I'm not going to be disappointed!

I love Magic Farm... I think I like it better than The Fifth Gate, but the graphics on 5th Gate are so beautiful... I really can't decide, so I own and play them both :D

I'm not usually a TM type of person but I bought this one eons ago and had never played it.  Once I started I couldn't quit.  It's so much fun.   I got very few experts smiley72 but it was so much fun that its one that I'll be going back and having another go at for sure.

You definitely have to think about what's more important to have in each level be it the bug killer plant or water...LOL

I love this game!!

It is very clicky but at the same time in later levels you can get powerups and spells that make it a bit less clicky.

It's very easy to understand and I have had heaps of fun playing it!
