Short synopsis:There actually was a crashed space ship - it just didn't crash in Roswell. With that as the start of premise, nothing is what you would expect from a crashed spaceship story. There was a second ship involved in the crash only the government doesn't find it - 3 high school kids do. What they find inside the second ship changes their lives forever. What we find out about the first ship (Rho) that the government has been working on for over 60 years will change the world - and it might not be for the better. Tangling with people from the Rho project as well as operatives from NSA, the 3 high school kids have to find a way to stop what is happening, avoid getting caught, & finish high school.
If you think this is a young adult book, you couldn't be more wrong. There are some violent & explicit scenes in the book. And they are all necessary to forward the story. The story reminds me in some ways of a Tom Clancy book - you're presented with multiple points of view which means that you have a lot of information that none of the individual characters have. And, as with Clancy, the changes in viewpoint are little short of brilliant. This is a story that couldn't be told by one person & have the same impact. It's the first book in a long time that I really couldn't put down. Almost like putting your hands in front of your face at a scary movie & then peeking between your fingers, you can almost see what is coming but you have to keep reading to find out what really is going to happen.
I can't think of anything bad to say about this book except it was over way too soon. I'm looking forward to the second book in the series. If you like science fiction or if you like thrillers, this is a book you need to check out.
