Obviously, this is only for people who still shop with BFG, but you can get 12% cash back on BFG puchases, which is very handy if you are buying games in the sales or CEs. Again, obviously not if you're only using coupons and credits!

I don't know if it's still valid, but I got a $5 bonus for signing up. It is American and does pay in USD, but you can sign up wherever you are in the world. You can also get money back from eBay.com.
There are loads of participating sites, so it's worth looking, but I mention it for BFG for obvious reasons.

A brief hijack -- PR, how is your back/shoulder this week?  Have you been able to go back to work?

Thanks for asking, kac. Still sore, sadly, and I'm off work for another week. Hoping to pick up another note tomorrow. They said they'd call today if I need to see the doc again, but they close in an hour, so I am guessing I don't.

Sounded pretty good, but DO read every single word of their Terms and Conditions.

Main points I noticed:

  • "Qualified purchases" are subject to review and "cash back" rewards are at the sole discretion of Ebates. None are guaranteed.
  • You won't be told of any changes to affiliate lists (a vendor is deleted). It's your responsibility to keep checking their lists and your account. If a vendor ceases to be part the system, or doesn't tell Ebates about the purchase, you won't be credited with a "cash back" reward.
  • You're paid "cash back" only once every 3 months - there's a list under Terms and Conditions.
  • You must access the vendor from the Ebates website, as a click through. You can't go directly to the vendor, make a purchase and have it count towards a "qualifying" purchase.
There's other, more detailed information, but the above were the ones that jumped out at me. Again, be sure to read every word of their Terms and Conditions so you aren't disappointed if your membership isn't what you thought it might be.

N.B. They do have an "opt out" for emails from third parties (all their vendors and advertisers); be sure to opt out if you don't want a ton of advertising emails.

Most interesting.

Question - I am part way through a purchase from Big Fish for a game of the year for $4.99.  The Ebates site says that there is a $5.00 rebate - is it really possible that this game will be free to me or am I misunderstanding how this all works?

You should get $5 for joining and 12% back from the $4.99 puchase as well.

Another brief hi-jack. Got my doc's note without any problem today. Just hope it's the last one I need! Still taking Diclofenac and have a heat pad on today.

It's probably too late, and I should have done this first, but I was looking at my account and found a referal link.

There is one in England that does the same thing but instead of you getting a percentage of what you have spent you designate a charity - really good for donating to school PTAs without actually putting your hand in your pocket.  You could also pay yourself back the percentage but would need a bank account with a business type/charity name but you don't need to be a registered charity.  They send you a cheque every three months and do not bombard your email box!  www.easyfundraising.co.uk  smiley94smiley119

PR - I was trying to sign up but it kept asking me for your email address.  It says it is optional though.  If I click on the link, will you automatically get the credit or do I need to provide your email address??

I'm not sure, but I think I would still get the credit as it's my referal link.

Thanks Khat!

I should read things more closely!

A qualified referral is a new user to Ebates referred by you who makes a purchase of $25 or more earning cash back.
To qualify for the bonus, the new member you refer via your custom referral link, the invitation forms on this page or other methods supplied by Ebates that allow for proper tracking of referrals, must make a qualifying purchase of $25+ between 3/1/11 and 5/30/11.

So it looks like unless any of you are big spenders, I won't get credit anyway. Oh well.

I thought this was mean, too:
Posting messages or links on any Ebates partner stores' Facebook pages or forum pages using your referral links is not allowed and will result in disqualification from the referral bonus program.

It makes sense as it costs money to do their admin.

On the bright side, just about everyone in this forum will purchase at least $25 from BFG during the three months listed.  Even me and I wait for sales.

AS long as people remember the ebates, PR should get some referral bits from us.

I misread that thing about FB. I thought it said you can't post your links anywhere on FB, but it means ebates' FB page, so that's understandable.
I am not expecting anybody to spend $25 in one purchase (which is how I read the terms), so that's fine if I don't get any more bonuses.

BUT I did get a bonus today from Genki! Thank you very much, Genki. I got $5!
