A Blind Man Receives His Sight

Luke 18:36-43

36. And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.
37. And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.
38. And he cried, saying Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.
39. And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace; but he cried so much the more, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.
40. And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,
41. Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.
42. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.
43. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.

So here we have a blind man that understood more of who Jesus was than those that could see. What he lacked in sight he gained in having faith. The old saying I will believe it when I see it, doesn't hold any water for those that are suppose to believe in Christ.

John 20:24-25

24. But Thomas, one of the twelve called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
25. The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

So here we have a Thomas, who was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus, using the phrase that I will not believe until I see his hands the print of the nails and put my finger into the print of the nails and thrust my hand into his side. When Jesus did show up again and Thomas was present it became another story.

John 20:27-29

27. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither they hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

So here we have two people, one was blind but had the faith that Jesus would restore his sight. The other one that could see but would not believe until he saw Jesus.

To have a good day, we need to be like the blind man that could not see, and walk out into the day with faith that Christ is right there beside us, and will get us though any problems that might develop during the day.  Like Jesus said: "blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."

Have a good day,

Have a good day,
John T. Begin
