Are you called Victor Meldrew? You have obviously forgotten what it was to be young! The fair was brilliant and it would have been lovely to have it all summer. I spoke to one of the french market people and she loved the atmosphere. As for our regular market - there was no fair there today but they were on top of the shops , much closer than the French who shared with the fair. I would think they are more of a threat to the shops as I saw a new stall cutting Keys when we have 2 established shops on Pool St. who pay very high rates specializing in that.Do you buy from the market or do you support the town businesses you are so concerned for?

I have to say I agree with the first message which said the town should think twice about having such a cheap attraction.
The scond message must be from one of the organisers who chooses to ignore all the arguments this unfunny fair has brought.
Fun fairs are for places like Rhyl or Scarborough. Blackpool is the cheap and nasty blot on the North West and added to this none of these places boast the title World Heritage site.
Caernarfon needs to be careful because not only will the world heritage title be lost but so will our history of being a market town. The only thing I can think of is that some of our businesses are motivated by greed and they are even against the Saturday market traders attracting more people into town.
I must say for the record, I do not shop in town anymore, I don't even go to the Maes.
I have lost patience with smarmy people trying to run our town.
My Reasons?
1. I can't park
2. There are no decent shops except gift shops and cafes
3. Access is terrible
4. The Maes is a death trap
5. Rude shop owners who think we all owe them a living.
Need I go on?
Ok then, when we get decent shhops in town I will return. until then, I'm afraid Bangor offers everything I need. If only I could sell my house. Caernarfon needs a shake up. And no I'm not Victor Meldrew either, just a realist!

What a silly arguement.This person has a bee in his/her bonnet. I suggest he/she should try to become a councillor and contribute something instead of complaining in this pathetic way.

LOL I tend to agree with you. No one could be so wound up about a fun fair on the Maes, unless of course he was invloved in bringing it to the town in the first place. Everyone knows Caernarfon deserves better than this rubbish. why can't the select few realise this and stop trying to blind us all by telling us it is what we want. The big wheel isn't wanted and the "fun" fair isn't either. Let's concentrate on bringing qulaity events to the town and support things like the Bryn Terfel festival and bringing quality shows to the Galeri.

Excuse me!WHO is the one with his/her knickers in a twist about the fair? I only voiced my humble opinion as one of the many who enjoyed it and yes since you mention it I liked the Ferris wheel also!I also support my town and never go out of my way to find fault.There are too many paranoid people around who spend their sad little lives moaning about everything. No I am not a councillor, I can think of nothing I would enjoy less than give up my time for miserable moaners.

No one would be so passionate about something so trivial and un needed as a poxy fair on the square. As for moaning, us brits dont do it enough, we accept lousy meals in restaurants and shoddy services for out cars and homes and never complain. I suppose we should follow your lead and sit back and accept all the rubbish Caernarfon is given and say how bloody wonderful it all is!!!

When it says no parking it means no parking, when it says 30mph it means 30mph, when it says no under 18's it means no under 18's, is that too difficult to understand?

well yes there should be no cars on the maes i think these people ar right look whats happened to Rhyl the funfair is gone i think these people have a right to there say as you have ,do as i do keep away then i cant moan caernarfon is dead the age of the small shops have gone its the age of out of town shopping where you can have fresh food daily as said we dont complain enough carry on its good to moan and its free to read .

Aha, the plot thickens, no one is interested in Gogs, so this message speaks volumes. how can anyone compare the Sailing club, Roman fort, Galeri and the Maritime Museum with a load of oldies trying to make a name of themselves? Obviously you are trying to put yourselves in the publicc eye with recognised town institutions. We could add Cae Glyn football club to that list if thats the direction you are taking. LOL
