Dafydd Iwan needs to dump the big anti English chip he has had on his shoulder for the last 50 years or so. (Was he bullied by an English lad at school perhaps?) I'm rather proud of our Royal connection, and that's coming from a Welsh speaking Caernarfon born lad. His attitude is what has held Caernarfon back for many years in my opinion. I'm sure there are Plaid Cymru activists who will disagree.

To be honest I tend to agree with you. Caernarfon needs all the help it can get and Dafydd and the rest of his anti English brigade have stopped Caernarfon progressing. He is the sole reason why we spend millions each year on translating services. Everything has to be produced in two languages. which not only wastes moeny and our resources but also is damaging to the environment. Surely we all agree that we love the Welsh language and don't want to lose it, but we are not that thick that we cant read an English written document? Teaching our kids through the medium of Welsh also means that science subjects take another twist if the pupil takes the subject further in University and finds he or she has to re learn the English terminology. Let us decide what we want and don't force it down our throats. I choose to write in English and have no problem with someone writing in Welsh. the opposite should be the same. I am A Brit and as such love the Welsh, English Socts and Irish. In fact I love Europe and the Americans. God knows, I may even love the Maritians too. So lets not live in a dictator county where a select few tells us what we want. Long live the Royal connection with Caernarfon.

These over 50s Royalists will never change there views, but you cant blame them. They were brainwashed by their parents and the Churches, papers and the brilliant English propaganda machine. It was built to conquer the Cymru. Imagine the size of these Castles when a majority lived in Round houses. The town of Caernarfon was built out-side the Castle walls, because the English did not trust us a bit, reminds me of a American western film with the Indians living out-side the Forts in there wigwams. When i walk through the town, sometimes you can here the Castle keeper ring a bell to tell the visitors its time to leave, well this was the same for the Cymru. IN another 20 years most of our die hard Royalists will be gone. Then you will see a BIG change in the DRE.

To be honest I would rather living with the Royalists than the Welsh Nationalists who still thinks the sun goes round Wales!!! You will only see a change in Dre when we rid ourselves of these sellf obsessed morons who say they are doing it for the Welsh. WE NEVER ASKED THEM TO! And as for the last message, the castle was indeed built to keep the Welsh out, but don't you realise it is now there to attract people to Dre and spend their money. We have already got rid of the big guns in Gwynedd. The council Leader and Dafydd Iwan to name but two. It's now time to get rid of the rest and then, perhaps ONLY then we can make Gwynedd great again and stop all this mindless anti Royal feeling. Grow up you Nationalists!

That's a bit unfair about poor Dafydd.
Somebody told him he could park there. Who is this mysterious SOMEBODY, why doesnt COL have a competition to find this mystwerious SOMEBODY and if not found then we can always make an appeal on daytime TV for SOMEBODY to make himself known to the World.
Perhaps a cash sum of £1000 for information relating to the discovery of SOMEBODY.
LOL - What a fool of himself he is making.

Ha Ha, I cant see Caernarfon online forking out £1,000 to find out (if I know Gareth) (no offence Gar) BUT, it is possible to ask the council under the freedom of informtaion act for details of who is supposed to have given him permission to park there. If, after 28 days, you do not receive a reply or they cannot give you a name, then it has to be taken as fabrication. Gwynedd Council HAVE to be transparent in all that they do (it's the law). So Dafydd couldn't possibly hide behind a smokescreen on this occasion! Unless of course he is allowed to park there because he has a disability which we don't know about???????

It is intresting to note that when Mr Iwan (or is his real name Jones like his brother?) was a Coun for Gwynedd you could not get him to make a comment on issues of the day ie the Schools closing, he would not even answer letters or e-mails sent to him on this subject. But now he has more time to spare he seems to think that the good people of Gwynedd really want to hear what he thinks! He told many people that he was not the aurthor of the first report of the schools reorgansion plan, later he changed his mind and admitted he was. Mind you he once led the protest to stop school's being closed in gwynedd, But a few years down the line and he needed a police esscort into a council meeting, when he voted for a polcy to close schools in Gwynedd. You May Be Stll Here ( there is a song in that somewhere!!) Mr Iwan, but the people of Caernarfon have few good pubic services, few well paid quality jobs (unless it's jobs for the boys time) a lovely town, which thamks to you and your like is shackled to the past you belong too.Few affordable houses, and a council that has been critised by the W.A.G, for the level and quality of services it offers. What people do have here is long and good memories, unlike you it seems and you are becoming a laughing stock. Oh and if you ever need a Blue Disabled badge let me know My Mum has one- trouble is you are in her parking place.

that last comment cannot be from a person from Caernarfon. The people of Caernarfon have oversubscribbed primary schools where children are taught in classes of 30+ by 1 teacher and in some cases are taught in portacabins. There are some schools in Gwynedd with less than 30 pupils in the school and have 3 and sometimes 4 teachers in the school. Now however upsetting it is to close a school children in Caernarfon deserve an education and more support from primary school teachers as much as those living out in the country!!!!!

Now however upsetting it is to close a school children in Caernarfon deserve an education and more support from primary school teachers as much as those living out in the country!!!!! I do come from Caernarfon, and you will note that in my comment I did not say if I agreed or disagreed with the schools reorg plan from Gwynedd. Everything I wrote about Mr Dafydd Iwan was true. I would be intrested to know if you have read the reports from Gwynedd on this sudject, or attended and meetings (public or council). What you say could well be true, but do not fall into the trap of thinking that if some small rural schools are closed, education and conditions in other schools will imporve. Part of the plan was for Gwynedd to build new schools . They have not got the money for this, it will come from a grant from the W.A.G. which Gwynedd will have to bid for, and fullfill certain requirements. All councils in Wales will be able to do this, and Gwynedd will be in competition with them for the grant. Gwynedd's plan was to close the schools, so they could build new ones with money they did not have, and may not get. But once a school is closed there is no going back. This does not sound a good idea to me. If you look at other parts of Wales where rural schools have been closed people will tell you the money saved is not reinvested in other schools. This has also happened in England, Ireland and Scotland. So much so the the Commons has formed a committee to look into this matter in England.I know that Gwynedd told staff from schools in non rural areas that their lot would be improved by these measures. But many senior staff still did not believe them. What ever you think Plaid and Mr Dafydd Iwan and in turn Gwynedd Council did not act correctly in this matter. They have admitted this themselves by going back to the drawing board, but their are many people who will not forget what the party of Wales did to the people of Wales from the very area that used to be known as Plaid's heartland. I stand by ever word I said.
