The 225th Hunger Games

           

                                            Chapter One

                               Katniss's Great grandchild

I am Katniss Everdeen's great grandchild. Just after my grandmother died, The Capitol came back after the rebellion faded away. People never thought that the Capitol would ever come back after what Katniss's rebellion did to them. President rose's child brought the Capitol back to it's formal glory but died 2 years after because of food poisoning handing over the president's job to his child. Some say it was the rebellion, But really how is that possible. It is the 225th Hunger Games, Another quarter quell. I wonder what it is going to be, probably another stupid one like the hidden cornucopia they did last quarter quell. 

                                        Chapter Two

                                        The Reaping

Here I am, Liam Mellark getting ready for the 225th reaping for the 225th Hunger Games. I get my nicest pair of jeans and white T-shirt and put them on and then walk to my little brother's room.

"Get up Josh." I whisper while slightly shaking him

He slightly sighs and opens his eyes just so he can see out of them. He yawns and says

"Good morning Liam" and smiles

"Have you forgotten its the reaping today?" I ask

His smile fades away and he immediately walks toward his closet and picks out his nicest clothes.

We both walk down the stairs and pour a bowl of cereal and start eating. No conversation except a small 

"Good luck" as we walk out the door. I get in my spot and see Josh looking for a place to stand and my old teacher Miss Star direct him to a place to stand. All of a sudden the audience goes quiet and a young red haired man starts explaining everything about the Hunger Games. As usual for the past 2 years I completely ignore the speech and wonder about who will be reaped this year. All of a sudden the person next to me nudges me and points to the red haired man. 

"Liam Mellark"  the man says impatiently.

I walk up and notice the audience is moving and see Josh come out of the crowd yelling 

" I Volunteer, I Volunteer!" 

I give him a look that makes him immediately walk back to his spot. The Hunger Games is not a place for a 12 year old anyway.

The young man then sticks his hand in the large ball of paper and open it and reads out.

"Daisy Hawthorne" the man says.

                                         Chapter Three

                                           The Capitol

How is this possible? Daisy, The great granddaughter of Gale Hawthorne who was my great grandmother's hunting partner, The man who helped her with the rebellion. Like really, If my mother made one different choice my last name would be Hawthorne. Man, I hope she has the same talent Gale did or I'm dead meat in the arena. I know I have the talent of my great grandmother, I'm a great survivalist and I'm good with a bow and arrow. 

I meet up with Daisy on the train and ask if she has any skill in the wild whatsoever. I am good in the wild because I am in boy scouts but I don't know about her. She says she doesn't know. So technically I'm dead meat without a useful alliance. We arrive in the capitol after what feels like 5 hours but I'm told otherwise. The Capitol is the biggest city I have ever seen. Lots of flashing lights and colors. We come up to a large tower that looks like it has about 15 stories. The young red haired man direct's us in. He leads us to an elevator and we walk in and see 12 buttons. He pushes the 12th button. We walk into a room that looks really fancy but then I realize, My ancestor's were here in this very room preparing for 2 different hunger games. I go to my room and lie on my bed. Then it finally sinks in... 

I'm in the hunger games to fight 23 other kids to the death.  My eyes start tearing up and then there is a knock at the door and I scream

"GO AWAY!"

They then enter the room and I realize It's the red haired man again telling me to come to the feast downstairs in an hour. 

                                         Chapter Four

                                          The Alliance

 

I take a hot shower and pull on the most home-like outfit I can find and head downstairs. When I yet to the feast a young man that looks about 17 with almost flat black hair walks up to me and holds his hand out.  Then I realize district 12 won last year and this man must be the victor so that means he's my mentor. I shake his hand and ask his name.

"It's Leo." he answers 

" Well good to meet you Leo." I say and walk to the only open seat. 

But the only open seat is beside Daisy. I sit Down and she asks

" Want to be allies?" she asks

"Do you know how to use any survival techniques or use a weapon?" I ask

"Does this count?" she says while picking up a knife and throws it at the apple Leo was about to bite in to.

"Definitely!" I almost yell and Leo falls out of his chair.

Then we get back to eating. After the feast I start to head upstairs but someone stops me.

"Bap, Bap, Bap, You can't leave yet. We have to get you ready!"

"Don't I get to sleep first?"  I ask

"Oh yea, you will." he says creepily and injects a needle In to my arm and then I pass out. I wake up and look at myself in the mirror and find out that I look exactly like the Capitol people.
