Our Lady of Guadalupe

Novena in Honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe

First Day
Dearest Lady of Guadalupe, fruitful Mother of holiness, teach me your ways of gentleness and strength. Hear
my humble prayer offered with heartfelt confidence to beg this favor......
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Second Day
O Mary, conceived without sin, I come to your throne of grace to share the fervent devotion of your faithful
Mexican children who call to you under the glorious Aztec title of Guadalupe. Obtain for me a lively faith to do
your Son’s holy will always: May His will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Third Day
O Mary, whose Immaculate Heart was pierced by seven swords of grief, help me to walk valiantly amid the
sharp thorns strewn across my pathway. Obtain for me the strength to be a true imitator of you. This I ask you,
my dear Mother.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Fourth Day
Dearest Mother of Guadalupe, I beg you for a fortified will to imitate your divine Son’s charity, to always seek
the good of others in need. Grant me this, I humbly ask of you.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Fifth Day
O most holy Mother, I beg you to obtain for me pardon of all my sins, abundant graces to serve your Son more
faithfully from now on, and lastly, the grace to praise Him with you forever in heaven.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Sixth Day
Mary, Mother of vocations, multiply priestly vocations and fill the earth with religious houses which will be
light and warmth for the world, safety in stormy nights. Beg your Son to send us many priests and religious.
This we ask of you, O Mother.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Seventh Day
O Lady of Guadalupe, we beg you that parents live a holy life and educate their children in a Christian
manner; that children obey and follow the directions of their parents; that all members of the family pray and
worship together. This we ask of you, O Mother.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Eighth Day
With my heart full of the most sincere veneration, I prostrate myself before you, O Mother, to ask you to obtain
for me the grace to fulfill the duties of my state in life with faithfulness and constancy.
Our father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Ninth Day
O God, You have been pleased to bestow upon us unceasing favors by having placed us under the special
protection of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary. Grant us, your humble servants, who rejoice in honoring her today
upon earth, the happiness of seeing her face to face in heaven.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory.

Prayer
Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mystical Rose, make intercession for the Holy Church, protect the Sovereign Pontiff,
help all those who invoke thee in their necessities, and since thou art the ever Virgin Mary, and Mother of the
True God, obtain for us from thy most holy Son the grace of keeping our faith, of sweet hope in the midst of
the bitterness of life, of burning charity, and the precious gift of final perseverance. Amen.
One Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father...in gratitude for the Miraculous Portrait as a continuing
miracle and testimony.

Morning Offering
Immaculate Heart of Mary, Heart of my Mother, Our Lady of Guadalupe, I unite to thy purity, thy sanctity, thy
zeal and thy love, all my thoughts, words, acts, and sufferings this day, that there may be nothing in me that
does not become through thee, a pleasure to Jesus, a gain to souls, and an act of reparation for the offenses
against thy Heart.

Triduum to Our Lady of Guadalupe
“I chose this place and made it holy, in order that my name might be honored, and my eyes and heart might
remain there forever” (2 Chr. 7:16).
Who is this that comes forth like the dawn, as beautiful as the moon, as resplendent as the sun..? (Sg. 6:10)
Hail Mary...

Mary speaks:
“I am the Mother of fair love,...and of knowledge, and of holy hope...My memory is unto everlasting
generations” Eccl. 24:24, 28, Douay).

Prayer:
O God, You have been pleased to bestow upon us unceasing favors by having placed us under the special
protection of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary. Grant us, your humble servants, who rejoice in honoring her today
upon earth, the happiness of seeing her face to face in heaven. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer
Remember, O most gracious Virgin of Guadalupe, that in your apparitions on Mount Tepeyac you promised to
show pity and compassion to all who, loving and trusting you, seek your help and protection.
Accordingly, listen now to our supplications and grant us consolation and relief. We are full of hope that,
relying on your help, nothing can trouble or affect us. As you have remained with us through your admirable
image, so now obtain for us the graces we need. Amen.

Our Lady of Guadalupe
Our Lady of Guadalupe

RoseMesoamerica, the New World, 1521: The capital city of the Aztec empire falls under the Spanish forces. Less than 20 years later, 9 million of the inhabitants of the land, who professed for centuries a polytheistic and human sacrificing religion, are converted to Christianity. What happened in those times that produced such an incredible and historically unprecedented conversion?

In 1531 a "Lady from Heaven" appeared to a humble Native American at Tepeyac, a hill northwest of what is now Mexico City.
She identified herself as the ever virgin Holy Mary, Mother of the True God for whom we live, of the Creator of all things, Lord of heaven and the earth.
She made a request for a church to be built on the site, and submitted her wish to the local Bishop. When the Bishop hesitated, and requested her for a sign, the Mother of God obeyed without delay or question to the Church's local Bishop, and sent her native messenger to the top of the hill in mid-December to gather an assorment of roses for the Bishop.
After complying to the Bishop's request for a sign, She also left for us an image of herself imprinted miraculously on the native'stilma, a poor quality cactus-cloth, which should have deteriorated in 20 years but shows no sign of decay 478 years later and still defies all scientific explanations of its origin.
It apparently even reflects in Her eyes what was in front of her in 1531.
Her message of love and compassion, and her universal promise of help and protection to all mankind, as well as the story of the apparitions, are described in the "Nican Mopohua", a 16th century document written in the native Nahuatl language.
There is reason to believe that at Tepeyac Mary came in her glorified body, and her actual physical hands rearranged the roses inJuan Diego’s tilma, which makes this apparition very special.
An incredible list of miracles, cures and interventions are attributed to Her. Yearly, between 18 - 20 million pilgrims visit the Basilica, making it Christianity's most visited sanctuary.
Altogether 25 popes have officially honored Our Lady of Guadalupe. His Holiness John Paul II visited her Sanctuary four times: on his first apostolic trip outside Rome as Pope in 1979, and again in 1990, 1999 and 2002.
The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is celebrated on December 12th. In 1999, Pope John Paul II, in his homily from the Solemn Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, during his third visit to the sanctuary, declared the date of December the 12th as a Liturgical Holy Day for the whole continent.
During the same visit Pope John Paul II entrusted the cause of life to her loving protection, and placed under her motherly care the innocent lives of children, especially those who are in danger of not being born.

Michael Argemir was born in Spain on September 29, 1591. He became a Trinitarian friar in 1607 and took the
name Michael of the Saints. His brief of thirty-three years was one of great love for our Lord in the Blessed
Sacraments. His generous service to the poor, the unfortunate and the sick made him a compassionate priest and a
faithful friend.
His ministry didn’t end with his death. After eleven days of prayer, Frances Sanz was cured through his
intercession. The cancerous tumors on her lips and tongue disappeared. No scars were left. Hers was one of many
such cures and was presented as one of many miracles when Pius IX canonized Michael on June 8th 1862.
We hope you will join us in our prayers to God to find a cure for cancer through the intercession of Saint Michael
of the Saints.

Novena Prayer

We praise you, Most Holy Trinity, for having sent us Saint Michael of the Saints, to be our friend and intercessor
in the fight against cancer.
Grant us, we pray, a humble faith that we may follow in his holl footsteps and believe without doubt in your
generous gift of healing.
With humble and childlike trust, we ask your Divine help through Saint Michael of the Saints in this urgent
necessity.
May this gift of bodily health bring us peace and joy which are but a foretaste of heaven, and may we be counted
one day among your saints in glory.
Father, your world is ill with cancer and frightened. We pray you ease the suffering of those afflicted, give loving
hands to those who care for them, and light the way for those who seek its cure.
Merciful father, extend your healing hand so that we may cry out, A cure at last!
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Prayer for Cancer Patients

Most Holy Trinity, You who gave us Saint Michael of the Saints as trusted friend and intercessor, and as patron of
those afflicted with cancer, look with kindness on your servants who this day invoke your name.
Through his intercession, comfort those in distress, confirm those in doubt. Satisfy their spiritual needs from the
treasury of your grace.
Remember all those who call on your help, but be especially solicitous of (mention name). Restore health to this
person and all who are sick.
Sanctify those who endure pain with Christlike acceptance and grant to all of us a just reward in the life of glory to
come.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

St. Peregrine Novena

Oh great Saint Peregrine,
you, who have been called "The Mighty"
and "The Wonder-Worker"
because of the numerous miracles
which you have obtained from God
for those who have had recourse to you.
For so many years you bore in your own flesh
this cancerous disease that destroys the very fiber of our being,
and who had recourse to the source of all grace
when the power of man could do no more.
You were favored with the vision of Jesus
coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction.
Ask of God and Our Lady,
the cure of these sick persons whom we entrust to you.
(State your intention here...)
Aided in this way by your powerful intercession,
we shall sing to God,
now and for all eternity,
a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy.
Amen.
Patronage: against cancer, AIDS sufferers, breast cancer, cancer patients, open sores, sick
people, skin diseases

Prayers

Prayers to Saint Peregrine
Saint Peregrine, you have given us an example to follow; as a Christian you were steadfast in
love; as a Servite you were faithful in service; as a penitent you humbly acknowledged your sin;
afflicted you bore suffering with patience. Intercede for us, then, with our heavenly Father so that
we steadfast, humble and patient may receive from Christ Jesus the grace we ask. Amen

Prayer II

Oh great Saint Peregrine, you who have been called "The Mighty" and "The Wonder-Worker"

Prayer III

Dear Apostle of Emilia and member of the Order of Mary, you spread the Good News by your
word and by your life witnessed to its truth. In union with Jesus crucified, you endured
excruciating sufferings so patiently as to be healed miraculously of cancer in the leg. If it is
agreeable to God, obtain relief and cure for {name of patient} and keep us all from the dread
cancer of sin. Amen.

Prayer IV

O glorious wonder worker, Saint Peregrine, you who answered the divine call with a ready spirit,
forsaking all the comforts of a life of ease and all the empty honors of the world, to dedicate
yourself to God in the Order of His most Holy Mother; you who labored manfully for the
salvation of souls, merting the title Apostle of Emilia; you who in union with Jesus crucified,
endured the most painful sufferings with such patience so as to deserve to be miraculously healed
from an incurable wound in your leg by Him with a touch of His divine hand: obtain for us, we
pray, the grace to answer every call from God; enkindle in our hearts a consuming zeal for the
salvation of souls; deliver us from the infirmities that so often afflict our bodies; and obtain for

St. Padre Pio da Pietrelcina (1887-1968)

St. Padre Pio da Pietrelcina (1887-1968)

In one of the largest such ceremonies in history, Pope John Paul II canonized Padre Pio of Pietrelcina on

June 16, 2002. It was the 45th canonization ceremony in Pope John Paul's pontificate. More than 300,000

people braved blistering heat as they filled St. Peter's Square and nearby streets. They heard the Holy Father

praise the new saint for his prayer and charity. "This is the most concrete synthesis of Padre Pio's teaching,"

said the pope. He also stressed Padre Pio's witness to the power of suffering. If accepted with love, the Holy

Father stressed, such suffering can lead to "a privileged path of sanctity."

Many people have turned to the Italian Capuchin Franciscan to intercede with God on their behalf; among

them was the future Pope John Paul II. In 1962, when he was still an archbishop in Poland, he wrote to Padre

Pio and asked him to pray for a Polish woman with throat cancer. Within two weeks, she had been cured of her

life-threatening disease.

Born Francesco Forgione, Padre Pio grew up in a family of farmers in southern Italy. Twice (1898-1903 and

1910-17) his father worked in Jamaica, New York, to provide the family income.

At the age of 15, Francesco joined the Capuchins and took the name of Pio. He was ordained in 1910 and was

drafted during World War I. After he was discovered to have tuberculosis, he was discharged. In 1917 he was

assigned to the friary in San Giovanni Rotondo, 75 miles from the city of Bari on the Adriatic.

On September 20, 1918, as he was making his thanksgiving after Mass, Padre Pio had a vision of Jesus. When

the vision ended, he had the stigmata in his hands, feet and side.

Life became more complicated after that. Medical doctors, Church authorities and curiosity seekers came to

see Padre Pio. In 1924 and again in 1931, the authenticity of the stigmata was questioned; Padre Pio was not

permitted to celebrate Mass publicly or to hear confessions. He did not complain of these decisions, which were

soon reversed. However, he wrote no letters after 1924. His only other writing, a pamphlet on the agony of

Jesus, was done before 1924.

Padre Pio rarely left the friary after he received the stigmata, but busloads of people soon began coming to see

him. Each morning after a 5 a.m. Mass in a crowded church, he heard confessions until noon. He took a midmorning

break to bless the sick and all who came to see him. Every afternoon he also heard confessions. In

time his confessional ministry would take 10 hours a day; penitents had to take a number so that the situation

could be handled. Many of them have said that Padre Pio knew details of their lives that they had never

mentioned.

Padre Pio saw Jesus in all the sick and suffering. At his urging, a fine hospital was built on nearby Mount

Gargano. The idea arose in 1940; a committee began to collect money. Ground was broken in 1946. Building

the hospital was a technical wonder because of the difficulty of getting water there and of hauling up the

building supplies. This "House for the Alleviation of Suffering" has 350 beds.

A number of people have reported cures they believe were received through the intercession of Padre Pio.

Those who assisted at his Masses came away edified; several curiosity seekers were deeply moved. Like St.

Francis, Padre Pio sometimes had his habit torn or cut by souvenir hunters.

One of Padre Pio’s sufferings was that unscrupulous people several times circulated prophecies that they

claimed originated from him. He never made prophecies about world events and never gave an opinion on

matters that he felt belonged to Church authorities to decide. He died on September 23, 1968, and was beatified

in 1999.

Prayer for the Intercession of St. Pio of Pietrelcina

Dear God, You generously blessed Your servant,

St. Pio of Pietrelcina, with the gifts of the Spirit.

You marked his body with the five wounds

of Christ Crucified, as a powerful witness

to the saving Passion and Death of Your Son.

Endowed with the gift of discernment,

St. Pio labored endlessly in the confessional

for the salvation of souls.

With reverence and intense devotion

in the celebration of Mass,

he invited countless men and women

to a greater union with Jesus Christ

in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.

Through the intercession of St. Pio of Pietrelcina,

I confidently beseech You to grant me

the grace of (here state your petition). Amen.

Glory be to the Father... (three times).

Efficacious Novena To The Sacred Heart Of Jesus

(This novena prayer was recited every day by Padre Pio for all those who asked his prayers)

O my Jesus, You have said, ‘Truly I say to you, ask and it will be given you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you.’ Behold, I knock, I seek and ask for the grace of...

Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be to the Father... Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

II. O my Jesus, You have said, ‘Truly I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father in my name, He will give it to you.’ Behold, in Your name, I ask the Father for the grace of...

Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be to the Father... Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

III. O my Jesus, You have said, ‘Truly I say to you, heaven and earth will pass away but my words will not pass away.’ Encouraged by Your infallible words, I now ask for the grace of...

Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory be to the Father... Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is impossible not to have compassion on the afflicted, have pity on us poor sinners and grant us the grace which we ask of You, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate heart of Mary, Your tender mother and ours.

Hail, Holy Queen... St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, pray for us

Novena to St. Padre Pio

First Day

St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you had the signs of the Passion of Christ on your body. You carried the stigmata for

everyone, enduring both the physical and mental sufferings in a continual sacrifice. We ask you to pray for us,

so that we may be able to accept the crosses we too must bear during our life here and offer our sufferings to

God.

It is to your advantage to commit yourself to the sufferings that Jesus will send to you. Jesus cannot tolerate

seeing you afflicted and he will come to you and comfort you, blessing you with many graces for your soul”.

Padre Pio

(PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART)

Second Day

Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, together with Our Lord, you were able to withstand the temptations of the Evil One.

You suffered beatings and oppression from the demon of hell, who wanted to have you abandon your journey

of holiness. We ask you to pray for us so that, with your help and the help of all of the Heavenly Kingdom, we

will find the strength to renounce sin and persevere in faith until the moment of our death.

Have courage and do not fear the assaults of the Devil. Remember this forever; it is a healthy sign if the devil

shouts and roars around your conscience, since this shows that he is not inside your will”. Padre Pio

(PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART)

Third Day

St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you love Our Lady and you received graces and consolations daily through her

intercession. We ask you to pray to Mary for us. Place our petitions in her hands, so that, as at Cana, her Son

may say ‘yes’ to her and grant our prayers.

Mary has to be the star that illuminates your path and she will show you the secure way to go to the Celestial

Father. She will be an anchor to which you must cling in the hour of temptation”. Padre Pio

(PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART)

Fourth Day

St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you loved your guardian angel, who served you well as your guide, defender and

messenger. Angels would often bring to you the prayers and petitions of your spiritual children. Pray for us,

that we may learn to call on our own guardian angel, who is always ready to inspire us to what is truly good

and holy.

Invoke your Guardian Angel, who will enlighten you and guide you. God has given him to you for your

protection, therefore, you should use him accordingly”. Padre Pio

(PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART)

Fifth Day

St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you had a great devotion to the souls in purgatory, for whom you offered yourself in

order to cancel their debt. Pray for us, and ask God to send us the same interest, compassion and love that you

have for these souls. In this way, we will also contribute to reducing their suffering and, with our sacrifices and

prayers, win for them their necessary Indulgences.

My God, I beg you; let me bear the punishments that have been prepared for sinners and the souls in

Purgatory. Multiply these punishments for me, so that you may forgive and save the sinners and free their

souls from purgatory”. Padre Pio

(PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART)

Sixth Day

Obedient St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you loved the sick more than yourself, because you saw Jesus in them. You

performed miracles by healing patients in the name of Jesus, thereby giving them peace of mind. We beg you to

pray for us, so that sick patients, through the intercession of Mary, can be healed and their bodies restored so

that they may thank and praise God forever.

If I knew that a person was afflicted in his mind, body or soul, I would beg God to set him free of his

affliction. I would gladly accept the transfer of his affliction to myself, so that he may be saved, and I would

ask that he benefit from the fruits of these sufferings... if the Lord would allow me to do it”. Padre Pio

(PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART)

Seventh Day

Blessed St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you have worked in “God’s Plan for Salvation”, by offering your sufferings to

free sinners from the chains of the Devil. We beg you to pray for us, so that unbelievers will be converted to the

faith, that all sinners will repent in their hearts and that those with lukewarm hearts will find renewed

enthusiasm for a Christian life. Finally, pray for all those who are faithful, so that they will persevere on their

way to salvation.

If the people of the World could only see the beauty of ones soul when it is in the grace of God, all sinners and

unbelievers of this world would be instantly converted”. Padre Pio

(PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART)

Eighth Day

Pure St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you experienced great love for your spiritual children and have helped them by

purchasing them for Christ with the giving of your blood. Please grant us, who have not met you personally,

the opportunity to be considered your spiritual children. In this way, with your protection, guidance and

strength, you will obtain for us a special blessing from God, so that we may meet Him on the day of our death

at the gates of Heaven.

It would be most fulfilling, if God would grant me just one wish (if it were possible); that He would say,

Enter Heaven!” This is my one true wish; “That God would take me to Heaven at the same time that the last

of my children and the last of the people who submitted to my priestly care have entered”. Padre Pio

(PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART)

Ninth Day

Humble St. Pio of Pietrelcina, you who loved the Roman Catholic Church, pray for us. May the Master send

workers to the harvest and give them the strength and knowledge needed to be children of God. Pray that Our

Holy Lady will unite Christian people everywhere, comforting all of them in one great house of the Lord, the

lighthouse of our salvation in the storm of life, as a lighthouse is a beacon for safe return when there is a

storm at sea.

You must always keep yourself on the straight and narrow path in the Holy Catholic Church because She is

the only Bride of Christ and can bring you peace. She alone possesses Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, who is

the true Prince of Peace”. Padre Pio

(PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART)

A Prayer for Trust and Confidence in God's Mercy

by St. Pio of Pietrelcina

O Lord,

we ask for a boundless confidence

and trust in Your divine mercy,

and the courage to accept

the crosses and sufferings

which bring immense goodness

to our souls and that of Your Church.

Help us to love You

with a pure and contrite heart,

and to humble ourselves beneath Your cross,

as we climb the mountain of holiness,

carrying our cross that leads to heavenly glory.

May we receive You

with great faith and love in Holy Communion,

and allow You to act in us as You desire

for your greater glory.

O Jesus, most adorable Heart

and eternal fountain of Divine Love,

may our prayer find favor before

the Divine Majesty of Your heavenly Father.

Devotional Prayers

Unfailing Prayer to St. Anthony

Blessed be God in His Angels and in His Saints.

St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and charity for his creatures, made you worthy, when on

earth, to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited on your word, which you were ready to speak for those in

trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I ask you to obtain for me the favors that I seek (mention your

request here).

The answer to my prayer may require a miracle, even so, you are the Saint of Miracles.

O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was full of sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the

Infant Jesus, who loved to be held in your arms; and the gratitude of my heart will ever by yours. Amen.

Prayer to St. Anthony of Padua - Performer of Miracles

Dear Saint Anthony, your prayers obtained miracles during your lifetime. You still seem to move at ease in the

realm of minor and major miracles. Saint Anthony, Performer of Miracles, please obtain for me the blessings

God holds in reserve for those who serve Him. Pray that I may be worthy of the promises my Lord Jesus

attaches to confident prayer. [mention your special intentions]

Prayer to Saint Anthony for lost Items

St. Anthony, perfect imitator of Jesus, who received from God the special power of restoring lost things, grant

that I may find (name your lost item) which has been lost. At least restore to me peace and tranquility of mind,

the loss of which has afflicted me even more than my material loss. To this favor, I ask another of you: that I

may always remain in possession of the true good that is God. Let me rather lose all things than lose God, my

supreme good. Let me never suffer the loss of my greatest treasure, eternal life with God. Amen.
