Thought I would start this to give people a place to discuss where to buy the best stuff, what is going cheap, where has a sale, and products to avoid!

I'll start off by saying that this thread will mention shops and outlets, and will probably contain links, so proceed with caution if there is a link - I cant verify the safety.
Better to name the outlet and allow others to google for the links.

Ok, today I bought a V shaped pillow, having been after one for ages.
It was from Dunelm Mills, and was £7.99, made by Fogarty, so not a bad brand.
The cover was a mere £2.99.

Bargain!

I am now enjoying supported sitting - bliss smiley21

And - if you have Dunelm Mill near you, they may do them as well.

Went back to Primark and discovered BLACK SATIN bedding sets, ooh! Needless to say, I got one. At a tenner, I am so pleased. The champagne coloured set is about to go through the wash for the first time.

Just thought I'd share with you a gizmo I saw in a disability aids catalogue. It's an adapted plug to put into your shower so that you can have two inches of water in the shower tray to soak your feet as you are showering. I think it costs about £9.99.

Personally, I soak my feet all the time when showering in my over-bath shower. I do this by standing with my heel in the plughole.... I do realise that this option isn't available to all of you but a flannel stuffed in the plughole should have the same effect.

It's fun to note that I am not the only one who sticks her heel in the plughole to soak her feet in the shower!

My paste pipe's so inefficient I always have at least two inches of water in the shower tray. In fact, I nearly flood the bathroom every time I have a shower.

I just got a new shower head for the shower we have in the downstairs shower room and it is great. The shower head that the council put was an Eco version and so it shot out water with cold gaps between the spray. Anyway, here is the link to what we got. The best thing about it is that because it tilts you can have the water going straight down to you feet and not have to play a guessing game about how far away you need to sit.

It is on the pricey side, but made the difficult task of getting clean more manageable.

That looks brilliant. It got a very good review on Amazon too. Our shower is a Mira and it is very good, but that would make it even better. I am tempted.

A big button telephone (opens in new window) from Aldi, available from this Thursday. It's a corded phone for under £12 - half the price of some models.  It has a hands - free speakerphone and caller display facility too, lots of features for the money.

For those with a B&M, they are doing the big number phones too.

Lidl are doing a heat pack, its filled with mud (!!!), has a cotton cover and if £5.
It is a large pack about the size of a cushion, about 12"x14".
Can be heated in conventional oven or a microwave, chilled or frozen.
I have just bought one and tested it, heat it a minute at a time and rotate it, not on your microwave highest setting.
Very good, very flexible, stays warm for quite a time.
May seem heavy, but actually that is a bonus as it actually does form around you.

Compared to others, I rate this one because of its size and flexibility, and price.

Made by Sensiplast, called a "Moor mud back pillow".

Halfords sounded great with a lot of things reduced until I saw that none of said items could be delivered smiley99 and the closest store to me (still can't get there) are completely out of stock  (so even if I could get someone to pick them up, by the time they are back in stock they will be full price.smiley101)

If colours are a problem, what about a lightweight throw in a more acceptable colour to put over them?

Back and neck heat pad.

Like a mini electric blanket, but you can walk around in it, useful for aching backs and sitting - you can unplug it at the pad end - you dont have to trail a long flex around with you!!! But you do have to plug it back in again when you sit down.
Not very thick so you can wear it under or over stuff.
Whole back and rib coverage, and extra long so does the lower back too.

I'm enjoying mine!
9/10 for heat.
7/10 for design. (plug can be stiff)
9/10 comfort.

Really nice for sitting at the computer, or warming your core temperature.

Lidl, £14.99.

And very nice it is too, especially for those who do a lot of sitting.

Also the hand heat gel filled things that Aunty mentioned the other day - two for £1.49, and they are bigger than the ones I normally see.
Useful for hands or putting on sore bits, muscle knots etc.
Are recharged in boiling water.

I have bought one of those back warmers.  Thanks for the review Hossy!  I really like mine.  I have had quite a few sleepless nights this week, and it has been lovely for sitting on the sofa at 3am!
I see that Lidls are having some more disability stuff due in on 3rd October.

They are listed under their Autumn deals section of the website.

On offer are:

Foldable Rollator £69.99
Blood Pressure Monitor £16.99

Has anyone tried the leg pillow at £12.99?

It looks really good and would help the poor circulation in my leg.

I found this as well.  I put it down to me having short legs and not fitting in the  moulded area.

has anyone tried a book rest..  im thinking of adding a readezy book support from http://www.co-opxest.com but not sure how easy page turning would be.

Hi cats,
I was thinking about the leg pillow.  I wonder if I can try one out in the shop to see if my legs fit.  I might try lying down in the aisle!!
