I need a crutch these days to walk any distance outside.  how come then I can leave it at the garage and be half way up the road before the chap from the garage calls me back because I have left it there?

Mind over matter perhaps.  I find I forget what I can't do any more and do things like fall over because I have tried to run for a bus.

You're not alone - I have always been absent-minded, especially if I'm taken out of my 'comfort zone' and my usual routine; like last week, being distracted, I forgot to take my meds one night.  Boy, did I suffer for that  smiley99

You can get a pill organiser from the chemist - they have a labelled little box for each time and each day.  That way you would know whether or not you have already taken your pills.

An old bloke I see in the paper shop often leaves his stick behind. It's become a standing joke between us.

Memory's a strange thing anyway. I'm very good at remembering appointments etc and very rarely have to write them down. (This week, dole office 9am on Monday, a funeral at 1pm on Tuesday, car MOT 8.30am Wednesday, occupational therapist home visit 10am Thursday)

On the other hand I recently totally forgot the name of the wife of one of my best friends. Mind you,  they've only been married 23 years. And /I was at the wedding and have probably met her several hundred times since then. Strange.

It's Mandy by the way.

Pink, I don't know how much a chemist might charge, if anything, but they start at around £1.50 on Amazon

Pink, I'd hang on and speak to your pharmacist first, I think. You might be able to get this for nothing *and* also get the pharmacist to put all the pills into the right boxes for you.

See your GP and explain that you sometimes "double dose" because of memory problems.
They should sort it out as part of your prescription.

I get "nomad" which is a blister pack for 4 times a day/7 days.

I still forget sometimes and when I remember  it's usually too late to take them!

I very rarely forget to take my tablets - my body tells me very strongly within a couple of hours.  it is horrible without them.
Absent-minded that is me alright.  I often forget that I want to go out, I miss appointments, I tidy up and then I forget that I have done it and do not know where I have put things - all that sort of stuff.

And yes, I too forget that I am disabled and try to do something and am then completely taken by surprise that I cannot do it or that a terrible pain comes on.

I'm so glad it is not just me who forgets that I can't do things! I will sometimes suggest some sort of outing or activity to be met with a very confused look and the question 'I didn't think you could do that sort of thing?'. Then I have to admit that I had forgotten

Would it do you any good to get a piece of paper, fold it in half and write at the top of the paper:-

When you have taken you pills/medication write yes next to the date you have taken them.

Write the date from Monday to Sunday on the paper.

Example below:-

Monday 7 November :- you can even write down the names of the medications

Tuesday 8 November :- if you are taking more than one medication as part

Wednesday 9 November:- of your routine.

Thursday 10 November:- Next to the name of the medication write yes next to it

Friday 11 November:- immediately after you have taken that medication.

Saturday 12 November:- Then if you can't remember taken the medication

Sunday 13 November:- or even filling that day section in the pill box.

You don't need to stress or worry about it if you get into the routine of writing

down that you have taken medication. Then it should reduce the risk of "double-dosing".

I have started this routine yesterday as the day before I couldn't remember taking my meds

or whether I filled that day's section.

Good Luck and I hope this routine helps you. :)
