Ooh, food, one of my favourite things in life - I was the kid who always blew her pocket money on sweets
It'd be easier for me to list what I don't like: - pork pies (can't abide the meat jelly on top) - skin on custard - lamb Er, that's about it And yes, I am a chocoholic - have to have it every day and no-one has any problems with deciding on what to give me for Christmas

I'm with you Kizzy - but now I'm diabetic and can't have very much, I try to have really good quality chocolate.
Apart from that I have a savoury tooth: shepherd's pie; fish pie; steak & mushroom pie; corned beef hash.... and roast lamb with all the trimmings. regards, Deb

Dear Bule
You do not have to put up with this rebellion.
May I suggest use of the water cannon, failing that, rubber bullets and the Army.
You have to show it who is boss.
You have been pandering to it for years with soft bog paper and Andrew's Liver Salts. Put your foot down.

Sir, I am appalled at the quality of this thread and it's sudden deterioration into vulgarity.
I refer, of course, to Bule's most recent post.
I remain, etc

Hello Sir Cumfrence I apolagise for my vulgarity. Pete There is no need for the window pole as I have just opened the window as far as it will open to blow any nasty whiff's away + let a lot of fresh air in

And who, pray, encouraged this 'descent into vulgarity' in the first place? You have been pandering to it for years with soft bog paper and Andrew's Liver Salts. Put your foot down.I rest my case.... Back to good honest grub, my mum made the most delicious Lemon Drizzle Cake the other day. I got to take half of it home and have been eating it with creme fraiche - you can't beat home baking

Snap - what a coincidence
Will you be adding anything to yours or just eating it on its own? I found warming the slices in the microwave for 10 seconds enhanced the flavour...

I just don't get food. At all. Yet there's such a big fuss made about it. And practically every time I go round to visit someone I end up having to watch a TV programme about it, something I've never done voluntarily in my entire life. I genuinely don't understand. Why would anyone want to watch someone else making and/or eating food?
And the same goes for property programmes, although I did voluntarily watch one once, but that was only because a friend's sister and husband (who I both know) were on it.

I wish I could be more like you, Jockice! I am a compulsive eater, so many of my waking hours (and a few sleeping ones!) are taken up with thoughts and images of food. I used to bake a lot but don't do that anymore as it is just not good for me. The only cake allowed in the house is stuff that I don't like (fortunately, Mr H and I have very different tastes, so his favourites are things that I wouldn't ordinarily eat). I limit my cake eating to times when I am out, as long as I don't have any of it in stock at home then that works reasonably well.

Another thing I enjoy every now and then is a plain scone with jam and cream - I had one of those today and it was delicious with a nice cup of tea

Blackberries are great ( I'm talking fruit not smart phones) especially with bramley apples. Blackberry and Apple jam, jelly, tart, pie or best of all crumble. Yummmmmm!

I don't know if they count as 'old fashioned' but as a kid I used to love Refreshers.
I also recall that Palm Toffee was great for loosening teeth. It started out rock hard and as you sucked it became incredibly sticky.
